Yes I did try the mute, it was not muted, I have not tried the other
things you posted, sorry, I am a deployed soldier and sometimes my
computer time is limited. I will get on tonight and check out the line
you just gave me.

** Description changed:

I have just loaded Ubuntu and I have no sound whatsoever. I have a
Soundblaster sound card on a Gateway 3522gz laptop. I have ran the hardware
check and that is the only problem I have. I do not know if I need a driver for
this or not. I am running it parallel with windows XP and the sond is fine on
XP. I really like this ubuntu, but I cannot use it if I have no sound. this is
what I get when I tried to do the trouble shooting:
  mi...@mikie-laptop:~$ find /lib/modules.'uname -r'
find: /lib/modules.uname -r: No such file or directory
  mi...@mikie-laptop:~$ find /lib/modules/'uname -r'
find: /lib/modules/uname -r: No such file or directory
  mi...@mikie-laptop:~$ find /lib/modules/'uname -r' | grep snd
find: /lib/modules/uname -r: No such file or directory
  mi...@mikie-laptop:~$ sudo aptitude install linux-ubuntu-modules-'uname -r'
linux-generic

+ I would like to update this, I do have sound, but I have to put my ear right
up next to the speakers. I do not know where to look for this problem, so
therefore I cannot show you all of the scripts I ran. I tried to google, I
tried to look at all the message boards I could find.
