I had encountered this bug in the 8.10 alpha releases. Since then I switched to 
using fedora 10 on my netbook. I have not had this graphics anomaly occur on 
fedora 10, and this being an ubuntu bug tracker, I doubt my fedora 10 
configuration would be of much use. Considering that getting a netbook properly 
installed and set up is quite the hassle, and that on fedora I've got boot time 
down to 20 secs or less, I won't be installing ubuntu any time soon as much as 
I do hate RPMs. However, if I have time over christmas I can live boot once or 
twice and see if the live CD shows any signs of the issue now.
