I have seen this lockup twice now on a relatively vanilla intrepid
install (but with the kernel 2.6.27.10 from proposed). Nvidia, not ATI:

I'm afraid that I didn't get a backtrace, but I have installed the
dbgsyms for the X server and will get so if I see it again. I don't
want to open a new bug report yet, as the lockup lines in Xorg.0.log
could really mean almost anything, and I don't really have enough
information to warrant a new report. Other than a backtrace, is there
any other useful information I could provide? I have a bit of
experience debugging the X server if that helps.
