Thanks for asking that. I forgot to tell you that you can not change the
status of a bug when it has been marked as a duplicate of another bug.
When you really wanted to change the status (for example when it was
wrong to mark it as a duplicate and you want to confirm a bug) edit the
duplicate state of this bug by clicking on the button next to the number
above the package and remove the number. Then you are able to edit the
status again :)
