I have the same problem, but the solution indicated by veng doesn't fix it.
If I run 'dpkg --configure -a' I get the message Configuring libc6 (2.6.1-1ubuntu10) ... Processing triggers for libc6 ... ldconfig deferred processing now taking place Bus error (core dumped) dpkg: subprocess post-installation script returned an error code 135 so the problem seems the same. When I run some adept application and get prompted by the message Another process is using the packaging system database (probably some other Adept application or apt-get or aptitude). Would you like to attempt to resolve this problem? No will enter read-only mode and Cancel to quit and resolve this issue yourself. if I say "yes" the KDE crash handler pops up and says The application adept updater crashed and caused the signal 6 (SIGABRT) If I click on the "backtrace" menu I get (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1".
