Binary package hint: udev
In Ubuntu Intrepid 32 bit, I get the following error when trying to use xsane:
Failed to open device 'brother2:bus4:dev1': Error during device I/O
When I run xsane as root or do "sudo chmod a+rw /dev/bus/usb/002/002" it will
work.
The permissions of the device should be set correctly by udev.
