Public bug reported:

Hello!

I use Kubuntu 8.04 with all updates installed which offered by default and some
additional programs from the repositories. Yesterday I wanted to install the
current version of the Adobe Reader. However, I couldn't find "adobe reader" or
"acroread" in the four official package sources. So I downloaded the .deb
package from the Adobe website. In the default file manager (Dolphin? I would
have to reboot to find that out) I clicked on the deb file. A program came up
(IIRC not Adept) which offered me the option to install it. But it seems it
wasn't installed altough I clicked on the corresponding button and it seems
like it did something. The reason that I didn't work is probably that it didn't
ask me for root privileges.
When I installed it on the console with "sudo dpkg -i ....deb", everythings
worked fine. But I think it's more user friendly if that also works on the GUI.

Merry christmas!
