KDE appears to just not work with Ubuntu. I dumped Kubuntu, installed Ubuntu and everything was great; used the package manager to download the Kubuntu desktop and run that as a session option and the same thing happened again. But when I boot using the Gnome session type it runs fine. So there we go.

Status in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I've just done a fresh install of Kubuntu Intrepid on my Acer Travelmate 530. The problem I have now is the screen randomly goes black and a single line of text saying "Checking Battery State [OK]" appears at the top for a few seconds, then X restarts and I am left at the login screen. The crashing occurs whether I'm on mains power or battery. I've done a full update & upgrade & dist-upgrade, but that didn't help. I've also turn on proposed updates, and re-upgraded, also to no effect. I know that its not a hardware issue, as before Intrepid I was a happy Gutsy and Hardy user on this same laptop, (and Dual boot XP works fine as well). At least one other person has the same bug. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6235844#post6235844 -- Checking Battery State [OK] X Crashing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/301601 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
