I have this problem since Gutsy and it still happens in an up-to-date Intrepid
:(
This is a different LG drive (GSA-4167B). When the system hangs, pressing
Alt+SysRq+1 or Alt+SysRq+t (as described in
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash ) has no effect.

Please ask for any information needed to hunt this bug, I would be more
than happy to provide them. Starting Brasero and inserting my non-empty
backup DVD-RW to write (or inserting the disc and then starting Brasero)
results in a completely frozen machine. I was able to burn in Ubuntu
6.06, 6.10 and 7.04. This is a very sad regression :(

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
       Status: Incomplete => New
