Same problem here. Using Ubuntu 8.10 Gateway 153 XL
Windows keeps temperature at 50-55C and with fan on. Ubuntu keeps the temperature at 61-62C with the fan off. It only starts near 75C Also: the second time it reached about 70C the system froze (including mouse not moving).
