Thank you so much for responding so quickly. I tried what you suggested on both the hard drive and an sd card and gparted is able to load. When it reads the device it is unable to determine what the device is or even if it is partitioned (it reads unknown device and shows it as being all unallocated space). I have never filed a bug report before so I am sorry about it being a bit vague. If there is any more specific information I can include please let me know. What I really want to do is add swap space because dell did not configure any.
