Till- Sure. I've attached the ppds from Ubuntu 08.10 for printers tk441118 and xe44118 which are identified as a 8550DP and 5500 respectively. The differences between these ppds seem trivial to me.
The 8550DP worked under 08.04 with a Xerox PPD, from the URL below.
