Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: update-manager
As noted in a comment to bug 175192, if the version preferences are set
in synaptic so that there exist possible updates which will not be
installed, then update-manager displays its star icon and claims there
are updates to install, but when clicking "Install Updates" nothing
happens and the possible updates are still displayed. I found this very
confusing until I discovered the above-mentioned comment and realized
what was happening. Perhaps when this happens update-manager could
display a message informing the user that certain possible updates will
not be installed due to version preferences?
Ubuntu 8.10
update-manager 1:0.93.35
