Public bug reported:
In Ubuntu 8.10 (upgraded from a correctly functioning 8.04), when trying
to open a .ps file from Nautilus (or the command line) with Evince or
Okular, I get the following error :
(with Evince) :
Filetype matlab script/function is not supported (text/x-matlab) is not
supported
and it fails to open the file.
When commenting out the matlab entry in the freedesktop xml file in
/usr/share/mime , the same error appears but with a tex mimetype instead
of the matlab mimetype.
I checked thoroughly all the entries related to matlab and postscript in
/usr/share/mime , and everything seems to be in order. I also
regenerated the mimetype with the command ''update-mime-database
/usr/share/mime'' several times, to no avail.
Attached is a screenshot showing the error in Evince, as well as the
file properties from Nautilus (demonstrating that the mimetype
associated with .ps files is correct outside of Evince)
** Affects: evince (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
