I am no longer using KDE, and I resorted to have my own Xmodmap that gets
loaded on top of everything else. I still can't type eacute, agrave, etc. with
the ease of a mac, but at least in an xterm I can type alt+i, alt+a, etc.
My partitions are near capacity and thus I cannot install KDE to test this bug.
Feel free to close it.
I would appreciate though if someone can point at a help page which explains
how to use an american keyboard to type non-english, european languages
characters with the ease of macosx keyboard (with the alt key, which I never
use to access menus).
