Mike, you have three soundcards according to the alsa-info script output. The first one (card 0), ALC888, has two outputs, one analog and one digital. Second (card 1) is that your USB speakers seem to have its own soundcard output. Third is audio output over HDMI (card 2).
You can try to output sound to a specific card by trying the following commands: # analog ALC888 aplay -D plughw:0 /usr/share/sounds/question.wav # digital ALC888 aplay -D plughw:0,1 /usr/share/sounds/question.wav # USB speakers aplay -D plughw:1 /usr/share/sounds/question.wav # HDMI aplay -D plughw:2 /usr/share/sounds/question.wav (Replace /usr/share/sounds/question.wav with another wave file if you don't have it.) -- No Audio/Sound In Ubuntu 8.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311471 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
