Same problem here. Actually, unless I use the kill switch to switch off the wlan, the boot hangs for a couple of minutes with 'Configuring network devices', and then comes up without working wlan anyway.
The only way to get wlan working is by 'rmmod iwlagn; modprobe iwlagn' after the machine has booted (and after switching on wlan again). For the record, I have on the same box (a) 32bit 8.10, upgraded from 8.04, and (b) 64bit 8.10, fresh install.
