I had the same problem on Intrepid Ibex. I did a complete uninstallation, but the problem persisted (because for some reason the configuration file wasn't removed). Because Wormux crashed immediately, I couldn't use the graphical interface to change settings. Luckily I stumbled upon this bug report :-) Lack of ~/.local or ~/.local/share wasn't the cause of the problem for me, as those directories are present in my system. It was disabling "look for updates" that stopped the crashing.
