I think I may be seeing this (or something very similar). Tux racer
crashes out when you go from the flat graphics to the 3d stuff. The glx
gears app appears to work fine. Some haskell code I've got that binds
against the opengl libs renders garbage into the opengl frame. Other
opengl apps crash kde, or bomb out, or are otherwise badly behaved.

I've got an HP Compaq 2710p with an Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c) and have tried both leaving
xorg.conf as per default, and also adding a device for the graphics card
with the intel driver (+ listing glx, GLcore and v4l modules).

Things seemed to be better behaved under hardy. Stuff seemed to break
when I upgraded to Intrepid.
