I found a pretty interesting link:

explains this issue you are currently faced with. By clicking on the "I want to 
know what quirk and keymap means" if you look under the Prolem paragraph. You 
see exactly why this is occurring. 
---> Some vendors use buttons that are not recognized by Linux, and a scancode 
to keycode mapping is not done. If this is the case which I think it is, that 
would explain why xev ignores the events when you press the keys.

Unfortunately they don't have your keyboard model already added. I think
that we might be able to work on creating a keymap for your model, but
it's going to be difficult doing to through here. I don't personally
have a laptop that suffers from the same issue.

Can you please attache the output of: lshal | grep keymap, and we will
go from there?
