I'm experiencing the same problem under these conditions:

My mouse is a Logitech MX310 connected via USB on my Lenovo (not so powerfull)
laptop with buildin Synaptic mouse.
It only occures when i do a quickly short mouse-click.

In my humble opinion, it seems like the menu is still unfolding and/or taking
position at the moment I release the button.
This behavior could be equal to pressing the right-mouse button, holding it
down, hover the (un)wanted menu option and then releasing the button.
This handling also be a temporary solution as it prevents this from happening,
until a solution is offered.

I think the solution should be a check whether the menu is fully shown
before the right-mousebutton-release is taken as a click to select the
menu option.
