Hi TL, The main thing is that in my case the computer woke up with the kernel crashed: there was no activity in the things it normally controls. For example, CapsLock didn't toggle the light on the keyboard.
If your computer is waking up and behaving normally other than the video, then your bug is not the one I worked around, and the non-SMP kernel probably won't help. But since the machine is totally unresponsive in your case and the HDD light stays on, there's a good chance you are suffering from the same bug I am. Please post how it goes.
