Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6.28-4-generic-di
I upgraded my intrepid with to the latest 2.6.28-4-generic kernel. After
that I already experienced this problems. I then decided to upgrade to
jaunty and the problem with the 2.6.28 persisted.
After some time the laptop hangs (screen frozen) and nothing works (not
even SysRq). Sometimes I am still able to move the mouse and the screen
is updated for the mouse movement but I am not actually able to do
anything but that.
I think it this problem is related to the driver of my wireless card
which is a intel 5300 (using the iwlagn driver) since this happens
always when using the wifi.
I was able to reproduce this problem by opening a file with gedit as the
user root in a normal user gnome session. After gedit spit out some
messages about contacting the network the laptop hung.
In the message.0 log one sees that there is cleary something wrong with
iwlagn.
I append lspci and messages.0
