Have a similar problem in 2.4 and in 3.0 on Intrepid (English version), with Hebrew as an input language.
I installed OOo 3.0 using "Ubuntu tweak" and noticed the problem (Maybe it was there before, I don't know, all I know it wasn't there on Hardy). I then downgraded back to the latest 2.4 from the repositories but the problem is still there. I start a document writing in Hebrew, and after typing a 2 letter word, language flips to English. This is actually a bit funny - 1 letter word - OK 3....6 etc. letter words - OK Numbers - OK 2 letter word - Flips back to English.
