Just a quick update: @Andres, it is not the same, just similar. The problem with that cam here 0ac8:301b is that it is claimed by both drivers (gspca and zc301) while with the other bug gspca did not claim the id. Here the issue is rather one of the module utilities which for one do not get only one modules loaded as intended.
@Allesandro, this sounds rather like a different problem. There was a major move to v4l2 while many drivers still stay with v4l1. However the applications should be making use of the compat library.
