Thanks for your reaction. I think I found what the problem was. I imported settings via Febe. These settings created the problem. a Reinstall of firefox didn't work and a complete delete and new install of firefox didn help either. I find the add-on Febe sometimes very tricky. It is not consistent. Befor all this I tried the life cd. This worked fine. After a clean install of Ubuntu everything is working fine. I used Febe again, but only copied the add-ons and passwords. So not the preferences. So It couldn be anything different than the imported settings.
