My point was that 8.04 is not a 'previous version' of Ubuntu - it is still a 'current version' because it is LTS. However, I cannot confirm that it is still a problem in that release since I have personally moved to 8.10. I notice that this bug precedes even 8.04 - it's logged on 7.10, and I'm not sure if I tried putting re-enabling extra IDE interface with 8.04 or not. Still, your comment gives other people a way to have this problem addressed, should they come across it via a search or whatever.
