Binary package hint: language-support-translations-fr
language-support-translations-fr claims it supports french for Gimp, but
it only holds dependencies to the gnome-help-fr package. The items and
menu translations are located in the language-pack-gnome-fr and/or
language-pack-gnome-fr-base.
$ dpkg -L language-pack-gnome-fr-base | grep gimp
/usr/share/locale-langpack/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20-script-fu.mo
/usr/share/locale-langpack/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20-std-plug-ins.mo
/usr/share/locale-langpack/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20-tips.mo
/usr/share/locale-langpack/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20-libgimp.mo
/usr/share/locale-langpack/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20.mo
I believe only the former is needed. I installed both (language-support-
translations-fr has a dependence on language-pack-gnome-fr-base).
