Okay, I think what we need is something like what I've attached. I've not tried compiling it but hopefully I haven't made any coding errors; if I have just ping me back.
Note that if my suspicion is correct that this is a race condition, then it's possible the issue will either totally go away or move to some other area of code. But if it still occurs consistently here, then it's quite likely there is a coding error somewhere in the code that (hopefully) can be corrected. Also, it's likely we'll want to forward this bug upstream, in which case they're going to want to know if the problem still exists in newer code. So to get ahead of the curve on that, it would be a good idea for you to burn a jaunty alpha cd (ISOs at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/) to test with; if you can reproduce the issue with jaunty, upstream will be much more interested in the bug. ** Attachment added: "glx_instrumentation.patch" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21111234/glx_instrumentation.patch ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Bryce Harrington (bryceharrington) -- Xorg/GLX crash when switching KDE4 desktop effects from OpenGL to XRender https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315783 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
