Try this kernel: http://pashkovsky.com/linux-image-2.6.28-vaio.deb Sleep + brightness should work in gnome out-of-the-box. For brightness add "brightness control" to gnome-panel (power manager brightness applet), you can also set keys to do it, but I prefer brightness icon next to volume .. Good luck ;) On Mon, 2009-01-12 at 00:26 +0000, Walter_Wittel wrote: > Public bug reported: > > Binary package hint: acpi > > Intrepid Update Regression on a Sony Vaio VGN-CR120E: > acpi: > Installed: 1.1-1ubuntu1 > Candidate: 1.1-1ubuntu1 > Version table: > *** 1.1-1ubuntu1 0 > 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages > 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status > > I just pulled down the latest Intrepid updates (including the the > 2.6.27-11.23 kernel) and now I get the following errors running > sonybright.sh: > > sudo /etc/acpi/sonybright.sh down > cat: /sys/class/backlight/sony/brightness: No such file or directory > /etc/acpi/sonybright.sh: line 8: [: : integer expression expected > /etc/acpi/sonybright.sh: line 15: /sys/class/backlight/sony/brightness: No > such file or directory > > AFAIK this was working fine up until the updates this week.
