Hi Chris,

I can get into the BIOS. Simply by hitting the DEL key as the system is
booting up. I went through every station (if you want to call it that),
each BIOS heading line and opened up what`s in there. I don`t see anything
that relates to Audio or
onboard audio.
Question: If I take out the CT 4830 sound card, should I not be able to hear
sound from the Onboard audio via some plugged in speakers ? ( Also, I had to
hit the shift key and the no 6 key to get the question mark.... Is that going
to be the norm within Ubuntu?)

Anyway, back to the sound issue.

I`ll also go into google and bring up the motherboard or AMD Athalon
process xp2400, to see if I can determine where or how to get at the
onboard sound on /off switch.

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know. By the
way, where are you located?

Thanks again,
Al

Subject: [Bug 316244] Re: Unable to hear any sound from Sound Blaster Live
CT4830 Sound Card- I have NO sound on this system at present.

Al,

It is kind of easy as long as you can get into your BIOS. Depending on
what kind of machine you can usually get into the bios by hitting
whatever key prompts you to enter setup, I think in most cases it's a
function key f1 or f2, in some cases I've seen it be an ESC key or the
delete as well. Usually you hit this as the computer is posting
(checking memory and diagnostic tests). A quick google search can
probably help narrow down how you would get into yours if none of the
keys I mentioned here work for you. Once you're in then you can look for
a category that describes hardware (config on some machines). Go into
there and find where it says something like onboard audio. Please let me
know if this helps.

Thanks,

Chris
