Public bug reported:

While the symptoms sound similar to case #237945 (and may share the same
root cause) the YMF-724F sound card (which appeared to be operating
correctly under 8.10) fails under 8.10.2.

Symptoms:
After performing the distribution upgrade, the volume control icon has a red
sign on it. Double clicking on the icon presents the message: No volume control
GStreamer plugins and/or devices found.

Running lshw -C sound gives the following:
  *-multimedia UNCLAIMED
       description: Multimedia audio controller

       capabilities: pm bus_master cap_list
