Apologies for the delay in responding. Unfortunately, having cured this problem by using my Gutsy xorg.conf I no longer have the original and I am not in a position to attempt to reinstall Hardy. However, I have recently hit a similar problem with Intrepid on the same machine.
After a clean install of Intrepid I had the following xorg.conf: ----------------------------------------------- Section "Device" Identifier "Configured Video Device" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Configured Monitor" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Monitor "Configured Monitor" Device "Configured Video Device" EndSection ---------------------------------------------- The monitor is a 1600x1200 LCD panel connected via DVI. xrandr offers the following resolutions: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1152 x 864, maximum 1360 x 1360 VGA disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) TMDS-1 connected 1152x864+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm 1360x768 59.8 1152x864 60.0* 1024x768 60.0 800x600 60.3 640x480 59.9 The same system using Hardy offers: Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 1600 x 1200, maximum 1600 x 1200 default connected 1600x1200+0+0 (normal left inverted right) 0mm x 0mm 1600x1200 60.0* 1280x1024 75.0 1024x768 75.0 800x600 75.0 640x480 75.0 I have attached a zip file with my hardy and intrepid xorg.conf files plus the Xorg.0.log from intrepid. Unfortunately, attempting to use the Hardy (originally Gutsy) xorg in intrepid prevents the xserver from starting at all. ** Attachment added: "220259.tgz" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21240806/220259.tgz ** Summary changed: - Desktop with intel 82945 graphics will not boot + Desktop with intel 82945 graphics will not display correct resolution in intrepid -- Desktop with intel 82945 graphics will not display correct resolution in intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220259 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
