** Description changed: Default NV driver works fine with 8800 GTS However, when trying to compile latest nvidia kernel module computer completely hangs after reboot and have to hit the reset button on box and boot into recovery mode and restoring xorg.conf. After successfully compiling 173.14.09 nvidia kernel module hangs when xorg.conf uses NVIDIA driver. ** SCREEN GOES BLANK AND HANGS OS Computer crashes right before the password prompt after reboot black screen monitor looses signal input form graphic card. hardy heron has been completely updated and still fails to boot when nvidia kernel module has been loaded. It doesn't matter if it's binary .RUN file or form restricted driver. Computer still crashes the same. Computer hung exactly the same when using Gusty Gibbon but passed with Open SUSE 11. Not sure if it's the way kernel module is managing PCIE or PCI devices. Nvidia driver works with GeForce 7 Card with binary . RUN driver and Open GL and Compiz runs fine. I have attached a bug report form nvidas driver.
