** Description changed: - Old Compaq - I have an integrated sound card (ESS AudioDrive ES1869F) that quit working with Intrepid. I discovered I could put a line in /etc/modules that read, snd-es18xx. + I am running ubuntu 9.04 on an MSI wind u100 netbook. I just upgraded + from 8.10 and I am not getting any sound at all. I also can't see the + sound configuration option under the system menu section. - It worked fine til Jaunty, then it worked except the login sound. After - my most recent update, it don't work at all not. Volume is all the way - up and nothing's muted. The /etc/modules file wasn't changed during the - update.... any ideas??? + No bootup sound or login sound either. + + please advise
