** Description changed:

- Old Compaq
- I have an integrated sound card (ESS AudioDrive ES1869F) that quit working
with Intrepid. I discovered I could put a line in /etc/modules that read,
snd-es18xx.
+ I am running ubuntu 9.04 on an MSI wind u100 netbook. I just upgraded
+ from 8.10 and I am not getting any sound at all. I also can't see the
+ sound configuration option under the system menu section.

- It worked fine til Jaunty, then it worked except the login sound. After
- my most recent update, it don't work at all not. Volume is all the way
- up and nothing's muted. The /etc/modules file wasn't changed during the
- update.... any ideas???
+ No bootup sound or login sound either.
+
+ please advise
