Same bios version and settings here, but I've kept compiz and splash and haven't fiddled with xorg.conf... everything works fine when the laptop display is actually being used after startup, except it seems to have no idea what monitor it's using and so I have no resolution settings available from monitor resolution settings. No such problems when an external monitor is being used, all tried so far are detected and used at the expense of the laptop display.
