The toshiba quirk was incorrect; I'm surprised it worked decently
at all in intrepid. For jaunty, you should not use any quirks, i.e.,
you should remove the "options snd-hda-intel model=auto" line
from /etc/modprobe.d*/*.

If, after a fresh reboot, sound remains inaudible, please use the
test quirk.
