I'm sorry I totally forgot about this. I have installed cheese on an Intrepid Ibex (fresh install, keeping my /home/), and cheese says it doesn't detect any webcams.
I haven't tried to do Joori's trick again, though. Anyway, it should work out of the box, right? Here's the relevant output.
