Hello guys! I've got a fresh install of Ubuntu Intrepid on a Dell Studio 17 (but with a x86-64 kernel) and I experimented the same problem. Following Stefan Bader's explanations, it's finally working :
1. Activation of proposed repositories and installation linux-generic_2.6.27.11.14 (through synaptic, for me... I was afraid of a mistake with aptitude) and its dependences. (reboot... don't know if it's necessary) 2. Download and installation of linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic_2.6.27-11.23smb5_i386 from Stefan's PPA, using dpkg -i. 3. Inactivation of proposed repositories and reboot on 2.6.27-11 kernel. The headphone jacks are OK.
