Just FYI, the following procedure gave me a usable driver for SiliconMotion:
Download http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video- siliconmotion/snapshot/xf86-video-siliconmotion- deb2f845dd370ba819d02cb21b8a481827497af6.tar.bz2 and extract to some local directory. This is the latest version before release 1.7 of the driver that still compiled for me out of the box on Ubuntu 8.10, and there are no functional changes between this version and the 1.7 release. > sudo apt-get install xorg-dev > cd <directory of new driver code> > ./autogen.sh > make This results in a new driver in ./src/.libs/siliconmotion_drv.so which doesn't give me the 'AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0' error. Maybe this is of use for somebody. -- xorg fails to start https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292568 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
