Chris, You are correct that the bug is now fixed... at least with my computer. Thanks for keeping tabs on this one.

As far as I can tell this bug appears to be fixed in the new 3.0.1 debs. Thanks, Chris Cheney ** Changed in: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- Wrong Symbols in Special Characters https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238731 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Status in “openoffice.org” source package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: openoffice.org I'm running AMD64 Ubuntu Hardy. When I look at the insert special characters dialog box, some of the symbols in the grid don't correspond with the preview or what is added to the actual document. Specifically, I'm using DejaVu Sans, with Subset= Latin-1. Examples are the degree symbol shows "i". The section symbol is the wrong symbol, not sure the name of the symbol it is showing though. The German double S symbol actually is the "section" symbol. There are two paragraph symbols on the grid. The first, (#166) is actually generates the symbol above the backslash (broken vertical line).
