It appears that I have a similar problem when using Ubuntu Edgy Eft (lamp server) install, but I do not have this problem when using Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xbuntu Edgy Eft (desktop) version CD. It appears that the boot process with the lamp server install is different, because it attempts to load both the dpt - adaptec drivers -and- the i2o module, which results in the controller hanging the system. I receive errors like the following: i2o: Checking for PCI I2O controllers... iop0: controller found (0000:03:08.0) PCI: Unable to reserve mem region iop0: device already claimed iop0: DMA / IO allocation for I2O controller failed
This seems to be a bug in an another distro (Suse), which is also affects unbuntu? see: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=114718 . I'd like to use the lamp version CD, but the system hangs as described above. Please note that this problem exists in -all- versions of Dapper Drake. This is a real headache! -- i2o_block not utilized after install (dpt_i2o used instead) https://launchpad.net/bugs/72057 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
