Let me first note that you have quite drastically changed the
configuration ;)

What happens is that murmur fails to open it's designated log, and
therefore refuses to fork (and continues using the console for output).
Murmur never has root privileges, so it can't open files it's user
doesn't have access to. Since start-stop-daemon doesn't have a timeout
for starting processes, it will never finish.

A fix has been commited to upstream SVN and should be in 1.1.7 when it's
released.
