Seems like I might have this bug as well. I have been able to
automount CDs using both my CD and DVD drives, but DVDs will not mount
manually or otherwise, and I had to manually add the DVD drive info to
/etc/fstab after installation (Ubuntu 8.10 with all current updates).
The bios detected both drives prior to installation, so I don't know why
the ubuntu installation allows only my CD drive to be seen in
/etc/fstab.
