Binary package hint: network-manager

I have a Dell Latitude D630 laptop running Ubuntu 8.10. When I was
running 8.04 I had no problem connecting to the internet via my work's
ADSL line. I just plugged it in and that was it. My laptop has a
internal 3G card and since 8.10 it is a dream to connect via 3G, but not
with ADSL. When I plug it in the network manager starts doing it's
thing, and then says it is connected to "auto eth0" but I can not ping
the router, Google, or anything. I've tried to get help in forums and in
#ubuntu, but couldn't get it sorted out. I've also filled a bug report
before, but I might have not done it properly. It also seems like I'm
not the only one having this problem.

If you need any information or reports, please ask? I would really like
this being sorted out as it has been going on since installing Ibex at
the end of October 2008.
