Public bug reported:

Hi. I'm using ubuntu 8.10 on a ThinkPad T61.

Today I plugged in my brand new broadband modem (Huawei E172) for the
first time. It worked out of the box and didn't cause any problems.
Well, I shut down the notebook and returned home.

Now I've started the computer again (huawai unplugged) and try to
connect to LAN and WLAN but the whole NetworkManager hangs. "top" shows
NetworkManager with a CPU usage of about 65% and a MEM usage of about
the same. Killing the NetworkManager process and rebooting after
helps... until I plug in my Huawai and reboot again.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
