Confirming this behavior in Jaunty development version of Xubuntu. If I
continue typing, the suggestions will go away, but if I hit ESC after
"http://"; a third "/"is added and the resulting URL is wrong.

I typed the URL form like that :
URL : http://
After that, suggest URL box was showed.
But I don't want to look suggest URL box so I pressed ESC.
After that, suggest URL box was hided.
But URL form was
URL : http:///
It's the problem.

+ WORKAROUND:
+ When the drop-down suggestions appear, ignore them and continue typing. I
found this when I was not paying attention and did not notice the suggestions
in time to stop.
