I tried the same experiment with the Jaunty alpha-3 desktop disk. (Previous Jaunty experiments were done with the alpha-2 disk).
There is something new: A message box pops up when changing screen modes: ===================================== "Could not apply the selected configuration" "Method invoked for ApplyConfiguration returned FALSE but did not set error" ===================================== But the mode does in fact change, and the 848x600 and 800x600 modes appear as before (again, I didn't try other modes) "xrandr --verbose" output is identical except for timestamp. I am attaching the Xorg.0.log file. ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log - jaunty alpha-3" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21589474/Xorg.0.log-alpha3-090123 -- Screen mode with 0 Hz refresh rate with S3 Inc.
