Public bug reported:
This problem occurs when installing the most recent download Unbuntu
Edgy Eft CD (Server & Alernate Install Version) on a system with an
Adaptec / DPT Raid Controller. In this case, Edgy Eft recognizes the
controller and installs the OS normally. However, upon rebooting system,
system hangs after receiving error messages - "iopO: controller found,
PCI: Unable to reserve mem region, iop0: device already claimed,
iop0:DMA/ IO allocation for controller failed". This problem happens
with the Server install CD and Alternate Install CD, but does -not-
happen with the Edgy Eft Desktop CD. The Desktop install CD installs
with no problems. I would - however- like to install the preconfigured
LAMP server, using the server install CD, and am unable to. This problem
also occurs on all Desktop -and- Server CD versions- of Dapper Drake. It
appears that this bug may be the same as one corrected in a SUSE distro,
in which the DPT Raid drivers and i2o support module are both loaded at
the same time after rebooting a newly installed system, causing the
Controller to Hang. Help!
