  installed today's update (2009-01-24,17:26-5) and the boot-up aborts and
  it will not boot.  I do not understand the process that caused the abort
  of the boot.
  
  I was able to use a prior installed (Linux 2.6.27.11-generic (i686)
  kernel to boot and write this report.
  
  I will reboot and transcribe what is on the screen. Then post that info.
